CoMotion Farm was founded in 2009 to support Montreal's up-and-coming contemporary dance artists. It was founded as a reaction to the lack of realistic opportunities for emerging choreographers or students to present their work in professional contexts.
CoMotion Farm’s Dance Week, the company's first event, is a celebration of dance taking place at MainLine Theatre from January 11th-16th, 2010. Various activities are planned for the week, including an Indyish Dance Mess, a special Anisa's Movie Mondays and dance or production-related workshops.
Common Space Showcase, the week's main event, provides an opportunity for aspiring and up-and-coming choreographers to re-work a past choreographic pursuit for presentation as a part of a compilation performance. CoMotion Farm takes care of all aspects of production, while the nine selected choreographers develop their project with the help of the Farm's resources and experience (rehearsal space, guidance, etc). There is no cost to the artist to be a part of this showcase.
Common Space Choreographers 2010
Kati Belanger, Joseph Bembridge, Stephanie Bernard, Vanessa Bousquet, Monica Coquoz + Helene Messier, Katia-Marie Germain, Louis-Elyan Martin, Mike Huges, Greg "Krypto" Selinger.
