OBSCURA

Christian Cagigal

Company website

The beauty of Obscura is that it isn't obscured at all. Other magicians go to lengths to misdirect the audience. Christian Cagigal performs right under the unblinking eye of a video camera -- his wonder-working projected on a giant screen in real time. The heightened level of scrutiny brings an intensity to this hybrid of dark fables and magic. And remember, the Devil’s in the details...literally. Under these conditions where else could he be?

Nominated Best Solo Show - Montreal Fringe Festival 2015

""While his magic dazzles, his storytelling lulls you, transporting you into a world where every stranger might be hiding a devil’s face, a world infinitely more interesting than your own.""

Following a massive debut North american Tour Aunty Donna are coming to Montreal for the first time. Ari Shaffir is a Just for Laughs Festival favourite, with regular appearances on The Nasty Show, live recordings of his comedy podcast The Skeptic Tank, as well as past hosting duties for his long-form storytelling show This is Not Happening on Comedy Central. Now he is bringing you even more raucous laughs with another year of his storyteller series, renamed and reclaimed! Ari selflessly shares what can only be his embarrassingly true real life tales.

A roast-battle-style compliment contest where comedians compete to see who can compliment one another in this showdown of sweetness, this clash of consideration, this barrage of benevolence. Playing off of the idea of roasts, Boast Rattle has two comedians go head-to-head, delivering alternating blows of the nicest order. One lucky crowd member who gets some on-the-spot boasting. One Champion of Charity, Master of Magnanimity.
