Bio:
Kirsten Rasmussen does a lot of things, most of them funny.

She is an improviser, an actor, a sketch artist, a stand-up comedian and a sit down playwright. She currently lives in Toronto, Ontario.

She was raised in Lumsden Sasktachewan. A small hockey town north of Regina where Kirsten learnt the importance of dog loving, rooster hating and the endless hilarity of spandex. At the age of fifteen wielding a fog machine and voicing an offstage moth, Kirsten had her first theatrical experience, and she was hooked.

She studied theatre at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, where she received a BFA in acting and almost an BA in Honours Drama... (almost). She became a member of Rapid Fire Theatre and got addicted to the wonderful world of improv. She had the pleasure of playing with Rapid Fire Theatre for three years, becoming a senior player and touring with them to festivals in Calgary, Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto. She also wrote many hilarious and quirky shows with mega talent and current Artistic Director of Rapid Fire Theatre Amy Shostak. Their shows Garbage Island, Hag, Kiss My Bus, and Social Sundays played at various festivals and venues across the The City of Champions.

In 2010 Kirsten moved to Montreal. She was a cofounder and director of the Montreal Improv Theatre where she taught classes, directed, produced and performed. Some of Kirsten's favourite improv shows in Montreal were You & Me and Me & You (co-starring Dan Jeannotte), Dick & Honey (co-starring Brent Skagford), The Jam (featuring musicians from all over the city), Way The Hell of Broadway (musical troupe), and Captain Spaceship (a project created by Shane Adamzack)

Kirsten’s known best in Montreal for her two award winning solo shows. Blink Blink Blink and Tough!. Blink Blink Blink won best of fringe in 2011, and went on to a spot at the Centaur’s Wildside Festival. Blink was also nominated for Just for Laugh’s Best Comedy and also a MECCA (Montreal English Critic’s Circle Awards) for Best New Script. Tough!, Kirsten’s second solo show won the Beyond the Mountain Touring award at 2012 Fringe. Her new solo Chuckin’ Guffs was featured last fall at the Montreal Improv Theatre.

Kirsten also co-hosted Edge of The City (an Arts and Culture podcast in Montreal), Shut up & Laugh Wednesdays at Burritoville (Stand-up) and L'Après Fringe/13th Hour at the Montreal Fringe Festival.

In January 2013 Kirsten moved to Toronto waving goodbye to beautiful cafe au laits and melt in your mouth croissants. In Toronto Kirsten is part of the talented ensemble of The Sketchersons who do their weekly show Sunday Night Live every (you guessed it) Sunday at the Comedy Bar, she is an understudy for the Second City National Touring Company, a teacher at the Second City Training Centre and a regular player and teacher with The Bad Dog Theatre.
